Robbed...literallyPosted on 18 August 2008 at 8:21 PM![]()
This afternoon I found out that myself and my grandparents have been robbed...
Let's start from the beginning. I live in IL whilst my family lives in MI. On Thursday (14th) my mom said she's going to MI and asked me if I wanted to come, I said yes. I usually stay at my grandparents house when I do, they're usually at a camp ground that they pay for year round. So I've been staying at my grandparent's house with my little brother, there is usually nobody there with us. Today (18th) we were supposed to leave to go back to IL. Right as I was about to leave I noticed that I couldn't find my purse, which I left on the kitchen table. I did not touch it at all and it was there last night. Nobody was over except my grandpa this morning. We called people, nothing. When we called my grandma (after explaining about the bag/purse) she said that my grandpa saw that his GPS was missing this morning, taken right out of his car, and that the glove compartment of his truck had been left open and rummaged through. Last night around 12 a.m.-1 a.m. me and my brother heard a loud noise - a slamming noise. He went out to the kitchen first and I came a little bit later. He was just staring out the sliding screen door. I asked him if he knew what the noise was and he said he didn't. It seemed a little strange that he was just staring out, but I thought nothing of it when he said nothing about it. Now my grandparent's house is pretty small and quite a few lights were on so I didn't even suspect that somebody actually came into the house when both me and my brother were there! You can hear everything in this house... Back to this afternoon...My brother told us that when he went to check the kitchen (right after we heard that loud slam) that the sliding screen door was halfway open OAO!! Basically my purse had all of my information in it, over $100 in cash (some leftover graduation money I was going to put in the bank/all the money that I owned), and just personal belongings... My grandma called the police (which we just got done with) and made a report. I'm positive we won't get anything back. My grandpa left his garage open, so that was pretty much an open invitation I think...but to come into the house when you know people are there? That's crazy. It's pretty scary when you know somebody was just a hair away from you, taking your possessions. I'm pretty sure we scared them off though when they heard us, hence the loud thump (sounded like somebody jumped off the back deck onto the stepping stones), could you imagine what else they would have taken?
